The cocktail competition is now in its 6th year and going very strong.

There has been much interest already and we expect a great turnout on the day.

So far we’ve had much more interest from bartenders than in previous years. Indeed, we have already received requests for applications despite not having finalised the rules. Be patient please, all will be announced in January.

In the mean time brush up on your Gin based cocktails and get ready to mix!

In 5 years so much has changed on the London restaurant and bar scene.

Who would have believed then that the BBC would commission a series on Service and Hospitality to show case our industry? "Michel Roux Service" clearly demonstrated how much people can achieve with determination, hard work, self belief and a good attitude. The potential for anyone who wants to succeed is huge-It is such a challenging and rewarding environment!

There is much more recognition and awareness nowadays for front of house staff and careers however this is not near enough what the industry deserves or needs. The negative and false perception which are so embedded into our culture in the UK can only change if we work together to promote and celebrate our so exciting profession. 

Let’s not look at what the government or the councils or anybody else can do for us but rather what we can do for ourselves and the people that come into our industry. It is our role and our responsibility to make a difference and be counted for and this is what the Galvin Cup has been aiming to do.

An in depth tour of distillery to include;  sampling the mashing (tasting worts), tasting of fermented wash. Some time in the filling store to work with the casks and select some casks for use in the 'Extra Mature Range'.
A trip to see the Cadboll stone; the old pict stone which forms the emblem of Glenmorangie, and have a tasting of Signet at the stone.
A visit to the maltings at Glen Ord where the barley is malted prior to use at the distillery.

Accomodation would be at the world famous 'Glenmorangie House' - a mecca for whisky fans from around the world, and this would provide a great opportunity to meet and mix with other whisky enthusiasts.

Following 3 months of intense organization, the Galvin Cup 2010 is ready to go and this year promises to be even more exciting than the previous three. Westminister and Kingsway College who recently celebrated their Centenary, with HRH The Prince of Wales as guest of honour, will be the host of our competition on Tuesday, 8th June. 

Here at Galvin at Windows we’re all very proud of the event itself but even more so of what the Galvin Cup represents especially in this tough economic climate. By that I mean excellence, drive, ambition and the desire to be at the top level of such an exciting and rewarding industry.

Across the industry a lot has been done and is currently being done to promote and foster talents as well as inspire youngsters, but this is not nearly enough. We hope that you will support us in this initiative and even if you’re not competing, you’ll come to watch the event live on the day.

To keep things exciting, we have a few surprises which you’ll only be able to find out on the day... Hope to see all of you on the 8th!

'Et voila, after exactly one year of intense organisation, meetings, endless phone calls and many many e-mails The Galvin Cup 2009 has been awarded once more to two talented and creative bartenders: Riccardo Semeria-The Connaught andJeoffrey Anthony Warmerdam- student at NHTV. There is no doubt in my mind that this year's Cup was the best so far and will be a tough act to follow for next year. Indeed the competition saw "la creme de la creme" of the bar world mixing and shaking for the 1st prize. Tension and the desire to win was evident on all the bartenders faces especially as they were being watched and judged by such household names as Robbie Bargh, Peter Dorelli, Salvatore Calabrese, Silvano Giraldin, Remy Lyseor Lino Marchese to name but a few. The search has already started for next year's venue to host The Galvin Cup 2010, one thing is for sure the Cup has now taken a life of its own because of your support and for that we are immensely grateful. Thank you and see you next year.'
